Councillor Chris Manchester was elected unopposed as Mayor at an extraordinary
Council meeting on Thursday 25 September 2008. Councillor Manchester has
previously served as Mayor on two occasions totalling 10 years.

Councillor Tony Flanery was elected Deputy Mayor with a five vote majority from
Councillor Pat O’Connor. Councillor Flanery commenced his first term with Harden
Shire Council following the recent elections.

Both Councillors Manchester and Flanery will hold these positions for one year until
September 2009 when all positions will be again declared vacant.

Harden Shire welcomed five new Councillors on Thursday night: Scott Collins; Tony
Madden; Neil Reid; Tony Flanery and Tony Campbell. These Councillors were also
joined by returning Councillors Chris Manchester and Pat O’Connor.

Harden Shire Council will continue to meet on the third Wednesday of each month,
commencing at 5.00pm.

At the same meeting Councillors appointed representatives to each of Council’s
committees. These appointments again are for one year and will be reviewed at the
September 2009 meeting.
