Water Restrictions Reduced to Level 1
Council has reviewed the Shire’s water usage over the last few months. Residents must be congratulated for the efforts expended in reducing water usage and creating much needed water savings for our community!
There remain programs available for various non profit organisations where funding is available for water saving projects. Council will be happy to provide any support required should an organisation wish to apply for such.
The Level 1 restrictions are as follows:
• Garden watering – total per day of 2 hours from 1 tap at a time, this may include sprinkler use, the watering of lawns is discouraged.
• Swimming Pools (Private) – topping up of pools is allowed from the garden watering allocation, pool owners are encouraged to use pool blankets during non swimming times.
• Wash Paved Areas and Roof – only buckets are to be used, except as required by law.
• Public Gardens – sprinklers may be used to a maximum of 2 hours per day.
• Sports Grounds – sprinklers may be used to a maximum of 2 hours per day.
• Market gardens and Orchards – sprinklers can be used for 4 hours per day.
• Nurseries and Commercial Flower Gardens – sprinklers can be used for up to 4 hours per day.
• Washing Motor Vehicles – no restrictions.
• Bowling Greens – sprinklers may be used to a maximum of 2 hours per day.
• Fountains – no restrictions.
• Water Cartage from Town Supply – with Council licence only – contact the Engineering Department of Council if you require water to be carted.
• Automatic flush toilets – no restrictions.
• Ready Mixed Concrete and other industrial pursuits – no restrictions.
These restrictions will be enforced across Harden Shire to every household, rural or residential, that utilises the town water supply.
Should you have any enquiries regarding your water usage please do not hesitate to contact Council staff.
