There are many good things happening within Harden Shire that I would like to tell you about, but first can I say big congratulations to Lol Johnson and the Harden Tyre Service crew for starting their new venture. I hope its up and running so the whole community can support it in the very near future! Also Ken Tanson and Deirdre Farell are working hard on the Harden’s House of Honey project. I have recently read the business plan and when its established it will be a fantastic boost for the community. I really wish them well. Council have developed a taskforce to address some of the social community plan issues and we are working away on trying to implement a few things to address the recommendations. In the near future we will be making some announcements about the progress of these and asking for you to be involved to help our community benefit and grow. Councillor O’Connor is chairing this taskforce and would be happy to hear your thoughts on the plan and bring them back to the table for further work.
We are very concerned about the proposed closure of our childcare centre and we will be making representations to as many people as possible to reinstate this service in one form or another. At this point we have contacted people whose role it is to provide these services and sometime next week we hope to meet with them to discuss our communities concerns.
