Community Progress Committees

Council can establish committees under s.355 of the Local Government Act 1993 to carry out a function on its behalf. Such committees are given delegated authority to undertake the care, control and management of Council's facilities, functions and/or assets.

Galong Progress Association

The Galong Progress Association undertakes specific works, functions, actions and projects on Council's behalf. This includes mowing, community halls/ ovals, public toilets, community events and other miscellaneous duties.

Harden Kite Festival Committee

This is a fabulous family festival with kite flying & competitions for all ages. Jumping castle, merry-go-round and free face painting for the kids. Lots of food and market stalls and live music. A classic vehicle display for car enthusiasts. Demonstrations of paragliding, kite buggy, land boarding, radio control model flying and, weather permitting, ballooning.

Harden Gold Trail Committee

The Harden Gold Trail Committee is a Local Section 355 Committee of Council. The terms of reference for this committee are:

  • To advise Council in the formation of policy, plans and strategies for the management and development of the gold trail concept
  • To act as a forum in the promotion of local initiatives in the progress of the gold trail concept.
  • To provide a delegate to the Gold Trail region of Councils
