The book was launched at Hughes School Library on the 18th November 2005.
The book covers all of the cemeteries within the Harden Shire, listing all known burials at these locations. Orders for the book can be placed at the Council Office for $35.00 inc gst.
Jugiong CemeteryThere are two discrete cemeteries located within the town boundary. Land was dedicated on 13 october 1851 under the control of the Trustees for the Catholic Church and a second site was dedicated on 23 November 1886 for use as the General Cemetery. Both cemeteries are located north of the Jugiong township.
Galong Cemetery'goes back to the very dawn of settlement in that part of NSW'. This was the statement of Charles Meehan who, in the 1920s and 30s, wrote historical pieces under the pseudonym of Native.
The Galong Cemetery was originally a private cemetery, but is now under the care and control of Harden Shire Council and maintained by the 'Friends of Galong Cemetery'
